NEMOURS MANSION AND GARDENS
Visitor center
Wilmington, Delaware

Alfred Irénée duPont built Nemours in 1909, and named the estate after the town in France that his great great grandfather, Pierre Samuel duPont, represented at the Estates General in 1789. Recently completed at the entrance of the 222 acres property, the visitor center was designed to house a timeline and a documentary film introducing the visitors to Alfred’s life and legacy before they complete the tour experience of the five-story mansion and the beautiful French gardens. An early collaboration with the architect and the institution has allowed to develop the content and design into very well crafted exhibits and signage that are totally embedded into the architecture. The graphic language unifies the whole experience and was developed not solely for the exhibits but the film opening title and credits, the interior and exterior signage, the garden interpretation signs and a 28-page book containing the entire content of the exhibits. (Project realized while at C&G Partners)
